The history of the park is recent one. Set aside as a royal hunting reserve in 1969, the following year plans were underway to establish a conservation area which took the name Royal Karnali Wildlife Reserve. The original area was then extended to cover the whole Babi valley and in 1988 the reserve was upgraded to National Park status and named bardia National Park.<\/p>\n

Bardiya national park situated 585km south west of Kathmandu, covering an area of 986sq km. Is the largest National Park in the lowland area of Nepal know as the Terai. With 8 types of ecosystem ranging in diversity from flood plains to dense jungle, Bardiya is an area not only of prime habitat for a wild variety of wildlife, but an area holding the key to the survival of many endangered species.
\nWildlife is abundant this is the best place to see Tiger, wild elephant and a host of the other rare and not so rare animals and birds. It is also the only place in Nepal to see freshwater dolphins and blackbuck antelopes.<\/p>\n

2 Night 3 Days Activities In the national Parks.
\n1.\tElephant safari:- Totally fearless of any other animals, elephant are much talked about and are the traditional means or exploring the jungle and wildlife. Known as the lord of the jungle, elephants are the best means to watch tiger,rhino, deers sloth bear and other wildlife.
\n2.\tCanoe tide :- A slow canoe ride on the gentle rivers of the lower Nepal plains is an experience that is surpassed in few countries of the world. We put you in an authentic hand carved Nepali dugout. Not only is the canoe ride the best way to view the riverside scenery, the 4( minutes ride often guarantees the sighting of crocodiles and other aquatic creatures.
\n3.\tJungle walk and bird watching :- if experiencing the wild plains of Nepal and bord watching interests you, jungle walk with naturalist guide. This walk provides you with the ideal situation of viewing the animals closely. Birdwatching is always best on foot. The specialists guide will help you spot and identify the different varieties of many birds, both local and mogratory, they are found in Nepal.
\n4.\tJeep Drive :- Those that do not fancy either of the above mentioned activities can opt for a Jeep drive, that will take you to various spots around the park most likely to have good sighting of animals.
\n5.\tVillage tour :- A grand village tour will provide you a first hand experience of the local lives of the Tharu people who have been living there for centuries and preserved their culture and the forest too.
\n6.\tTraditional cultural programme :- To provide a unique and unseen traditional culture and how the people of their group perform their dances and sing the songs. Tharu community has a place in the centre of the village where they perform their activities.
\n7.\tElephant Breeding Centre :- You can visit the elephant breeding centre, home to the homeless and orphan elephants, being taken care of by the department of forest and wild life reserve.
